Tuesday Meal & Service
“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28
La Mesa is more than a meal. It is connection – with each other and with God. Some sit outside. Others sit inside. Everyone is welcome. During the meal and the service, you can feel the love of Jesus. We have not missed a Tuesday night since we started in 2014.
Be prepared to sit down for a home-cooked meal with people whose personal journeys may or may not be different from your own, families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet, the working poor and the short- or long-term homeless. We have this in common: We are all God’s children and are loved very dearly by our Heavenly Father.
The meal, which starts at 6:00, is provided by various cook teams. It is made with love and the community feels it. We are always looking for more cook teams!
Everyone is welcome to stay for worship, but it is not a requirement. We take the worship seriously, but it is made for this community. We sing together, confess, receive absolution, hear God’s word, perform baptisms, share prayers, and share the Lord’s Supper – everything that a worship service should have!
The community tells us they love the opportunity to gather together at “their church”, La Mesa. For many, it is the only service where they feel welcome. Come see and feel the love of Jesus as we worship together and everyone is welcome at this table. Come as you are!
When:
6:00 p.m. (meal) and 6:30 p.m. (worship), every Tuesday.
What:
Be prepared to sit down for a home-cooked meal with people whose personal journeys may or may not be different from your own, families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet, the working poor and the short- or long-term homeless. We have this in common: We are all God’s children and are loved very dearly by our Heavenly Father. You will have the opportunity to listen to a message and hear music, occasionally in Spanish. We will take communion together and pray together. The atmosphere will be very casual – come as you are!
