Tuesday Meal
“Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” Colossians 3:11
La Mesa is a church out of a cafeteria where all people in attendance are invited to enter into mutually beneficial relationships as they eat and worship together. La Mesa is Spanish for “The Table.” La Mesa begins with a meal at 6:00 p.m. and then worship with the Lord’s Supper at 6:30 p.m. If you can’t stay after the meal, no problem.
Calling all cooks, we need you!! Can you follow a recipe, make a salad or cut up fruit?
We are looking for individuals or groups to cook for La Mesa. There are many ways you can help. You can prepare single pans of food or gather your friends and prepare multiple pans. You can cook in advance at a time that is convenient for you and someone else can take care of warming and transporting the food as needed. You can also cook or prepare salads or fruit on a Tuesday or Thursday and join us to serve the La Mesa community. We provide recipes and as much support as needed from our experienced cooks to make it as simple as possible for you.
When:
6:00 p.m. (meal) and 6:30 p.m. (worship), every Tuesday.
What:
Be prepared to sit down for a home-cooked meal with people whose personal journeys may or may not be different from your own, families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet, the working poor and the short- or long-term homeless. We have this in common: We are all God’s children and are loved very dearly by our Heavenly Father. You will have the opportunity to listen to a message and hear music, occasionally in Spanish. We will take communion together and pray together. The atmosphere will be very casual – come as you are!
